When the daughter of Herodias came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his dinner guests. The king said to the girl, "Ask me for anything you want, and I'll give it to you." And he promised her with an oath, "Whatever you ask I will give you, up to half my kingdom." (Mark 6:22-23 NIV)

Prayer: LORD, what was Herod thinking? He made a very foolish promise "in the heat of the moment"! I need to ask myself that question. As I ask, help me be honest as to what I am thinking when I do some of the unwise things I do. If I find inappropriate motives, help me surrender them to You and do whatever I need to do to correct my mistakes. Then, give me strength not to do the same things again. In Jesus' name, Amen.
